ELO Founding Member Mike Edwards Dead At 62
Mike Edwards, one of the founding members of the band Electric Light Orchestra, has died after a freak accident. "The New York Daily News" reports that Edwards -- who played cello with ELO from 1972 to 1975 -- was killed when a large bale of hay rolled down a hill in the English countryside and hit his van. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Devon, a town in Southern England. The paper says Edwards died instantly. He was 62. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Edwards' unique style as a cellist and his outrageous costumes helped him stand out in ELO's early touring days. His work with the English band can be heard on the albums "On The Third Day, " "Eldorado," The Night The Light Went On (In Long Beach)," and "ELO II."
