John Mayer Refuses To Please With Next Album, Plays Red Rocks Tonight
Singer-songwriter John Mayer says he won't think about pleasing others as he records his next album. He says in a blog posting, quote, "I'm not out to please everybody -- I've actually been out to try not to displease anybody, and that's even harder work." Mayer is currently on tour and plans to record once he's off the road. But he won't be thinking at all about what his fans may want to hear. The vocalist writes, quote, "I think I owe it to my fans to disregard them during the making of an album. Writing music while also writing a future negative review of the music is a really great way to make slop." He plans to waste lots of time once in the recording studio, but doesn't see that as a waste. Mayer writes, quote, "[It] really isn't wasting time, it's giving myself some room to play and jam and experiment."
Mayer plays the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado tonight. He'll be broadcasting the show live on UStream starting at 10:45 p.m. Eastern. Fans can get the link by visiting JohnMayer.com. |
