Power Surge Changes Manilow's Vegas Plans
Barry Manilow is back on stage in Las Vegas following an unexpected power surge during rehearsals for his new show on the Strip. "The Las Vegas Sun" reports that a surge during a rehearsal on Friday incurred costly damage to the computer systems that control lights and sound at Manilow's show at the Paris Las Vegas. The burnout forced Manilow and his production team to scrap a scheduled debut last Friday, pushing the revue's premiere to Saturday. Over 700 guests who showed up for the Friday night performance were treated to a free cocktail party by Marilyn Winn, the president of the Paris, Bally's and The Rio hotels. Despite the false start, Manilow said he's happy to get his new act up and running. The Grammy-winning crooner said, quote, "The audience in Las Vegas is always energized and electric, so I know that the Paris Las Vegas is going to be a special run."
