Anvil Documentary Has 'Spirit'
"Anvil! The Story of Anvil" has scored another award. The rock doc won an Independent Spirit award in Los Angeles on Friday in the Best Documentary category. The Canadian band was at the awards in person to perform twice during a live broadcast on cable's IFC network. The film's director Sascha Gervasi accepted the statue for the film, which chronicles Anvil's struggles decades into its career as a band. Gervasi said, quote, "When I was 15 years old, this band took me out on the road and they showed me a lot of things, some of which I can't discuss on live television."
It's not the first honor for "Anvil! The Story of Anvil." The film won the Best Documentary category at the Austin Film Critics Awards, and nabbed a Best International Documentary award at the Calgary International Film Festival. |
