Lee Ann Womack Appreciates Recognition With ACM Nomination
Lee Ann Womack says she's pleased to be nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award. The hopefuls were revealed Wednesday morning, and the singer jokes about the early announcement saying, quote, "I got up on the good side of the bed even before I got out of bed." Turning more serious, Womack notes, quote, "I just keep making my kind of country, finding the best songs I can and singing them with every bit of feeling I can draw on," and adds that she doesn't make her music in order to get awards. She notes, quote, "You can't make records or sing with that as the end result, but it sure is nice to know that my peers respect this music I've been making, and they see the value in what I do." Womack is in the running for Top Female Vocalist of the Year, facing Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift for the honor. The 45th annual ACM Awards will be presented in a ceremony in Las Vegas, and air on CBS on April 18th. Womack is currently on the road with Reba and George Strait. They'll be performing in Memphis tonight.
