Last chance to see Allen True’s West |
| |
Discover the work of Colorado artist Allen Tupper True in a three-part exhibition presented by the DAM, the Denver Public Library (DPL) and the Colorado History Museum (CHM). Allen True’s West, on view through March 28, sheds light on one of Colorado’s premier native-born artists whose paintbrush touched iconic locations all over Denver, including the state capitol. True focused on the everyday hero that helped form the West. Visit the DAM to see True’s easel paintings, the DPL for his illustrations and the CHM for his mural work.
The young and young at heart are invited to a week of fun during Spring Break: Embrace!, March 27 through April 4. Inspired by the exhibition Embrace!, which closes April 4, visitors can see what happens when 17 artists take over the museum with spray paint, old clothes, swing sets, pillows and other wacky items. Guests can crawl through Tobias Rehberger’s interactive maze, add a favorite word to Rupprecht Matthies’s word soup or explore their creativity with special art projects. Kids under 18 get in free.
Come for a final Embrace! before the exhibition closes April 4. The DAM asked 17 artists to create one-of-a-kind works for the dynamic and angular Hamilton Building for the exhibition Embrace! This is the final month visitors can walk through a sea of words, grapple with a bungee-cord sculpture or gaze inside a sloping wall.
Find out what the artists were really thinking with our cell phone audio tours. Embrace! artists talk about the creative processes behind their work and what inspires them. Look for phone numbers posted in the galleries or visit the Embrace! website at exhibits.denverartmuseum.org/embrace.
