Head of a Monk, a painting by Francisco Goya, recently went on view at the DAM. Depicting a monk deeply absorbed in thought, the painting exemplifies Goya's intimate personal late style, one of meditated introspection and profound mystery. It is an excellent example of the famous Spanish artist’s free and bold technique in which the head is built up with a series of broad brushstrokes and swirls of the palette knife. View this stunning work by a master artist on the sixth floor of the North Building.
The Denver Art Museum is located on 13th Avenue between Broadway and Bannock Streets in downtown Denver. Open Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday noon-5 p.m.; closed Mondays, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
