Upcoming New Movie Releases for Week of July 10, 2009 By Kim Sabshin |
| |
This week, Hollywood is serving up two wide-release comedies geared towards a young adult crowd.
Brüno
Sacha Baron Cohen, the man who brought you Borat in 2006, is back for more. This time he stars as Brüno, a gay Austrian fashion reporter with a talent for asking his interviewees awkward questions about everything from fashion to his sexuality, with particular emphasis on the latter. Brüno takes his show to America and the world by storm in this satirical comedy. Rated R, 88 mins.
I Love You, Beth Cooper
Chris Columbus directs this teen comedy, based on the novel of the same name by former The Simpsons writer Larry Doyle. Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) is a nerd who never thought he would ever have a chance with Beth Cooper (Hayden Panettiere), the most popular girl in his graduating class. However, when he proclaims his love for her in his valedictorian speech, he gets an unexpected surprise when she shows up on his doorstep that night. Rated PG-13, 102 mins.
