Colorado Haunted History

Red RocksFeatured on the Peter Boyles radio show, the Canyon Courier and the Jefferson County Sentinel, this is not a typical downtown city tour. This exciting pass through Colorado’s haunted history promises to delight all who walk in the footsteps of the city’s former inhabitants.

The guided tour is filled with chilling stories about this historic city and its previous residents such as the Hatchet Lady of Red Rocks, who was a homeless woman living in the Red Rocks Canyon during the 1950’s. Since her death, her spirit has been seen walking the Canyon with her hatchet in hand, and chasing visitors who stray to close. Also the Lecherous Indian Chief, an imposing figure who spent his days eating and trying to persuade any who would listen to trade their wives and daughter for the women of his tribe.

Other ghostly inhabitants include a small girl who haunts the building housing Tony Rigatoni’s Pizza and Pasta. She was known to have a strong dislike for men and workers at Rigatoni’s claim she still lingers there, rigging a swinging gate specifically to strike waiters in the groin.

Located just minutes from downtown Denver, Morrison is a frightening living history tantalizing all who dare to walk its streets. But don’t worry; you’ll be in good hands with tour guides, Joe Chirhart, Renee Nellis and Monica Ferrel. They pass along their knowledge while keeping the tour light and filled with humor.

This is a family friendly event which often sees children as young as 2 and 3. Reservations are required so interested parties should call 1-888-649-3849 or email tours@coloradohauntedhistory.com. Tours are led starting at 7:00 pm when scheduled although they will take groups of 10 or more for other dates and times.

Halloween is the perfect time to visit Morrison, but be advised tour dates will be disappearing fast. Don’t hesitate to make your reservations. Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for children 12 and under. Discounts are available for groups of over 10 people.
